The new provisions of the Broadcasting Commission of the Caribbean island prohibit any song or music video that refers to the act or ensalce sexual violence, weapons, murder, rape or arson.

The commission announced the measure on Saturday, nearly two weeks after the February 6 banned songs and videos with the genus daggering “, a dance popular among young Jamaicans which is characterized by intense movements with the pelvis that simulate the sexual act.

The tune, a frenetic fusion of reggae and rap, known as “dancehall” is very popular in Jamaica despite the recurring controversy over his lyrics and his way of dancing.

The new ban also applies in the hip-hop and soca, a dance music that was born in Trinidad and Tobago.
