Kate Elizabeth Winslet (October 5, 1975, Reading, England) is a British actress and occasional singer, who won an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, two BAFTA Awards, two Screen Actors Guild award, a prize Bambi European film award and a Grammy. It is one of the few actresses who has managed to make the four main acting awards for her performance in The Reader. For this and other achievements is considered one of the best actresses of her generation.
Early
He was born into a family of theater actors. His parents are Roger Winslet and Sally Bridges-Winslet. It is the second among his brethren Anna Winslet, Joss Winslet and Beth Winslet. At age 11 she began studying acting at the Redroofs Theatre School in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
At 12 she made her first appearance on television, participating in a commercial.
